Academic Programs

The ZJU-UIUC Institute offers undergraduate academic programs in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, and civil and environmental engineering, and plans to expand into other fields of engineering and science as it grows. Successful students receive engineering degrees from both UIUC and ZJU when their study is completed.
Students work in an interactive learning environment with extensive laboratory and project content.  There is broad multidisciplinary interaction among the programs.

Dual Degree

Students admitted to this international degree program are enrolled in both Zhejiang University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Students who successfully complete the program and meet the requirements of both universities will receive two bachelor’s degrees in their respective major fields:
Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois
Bachelor of Engineering from Zhejiang University

Learning Experiences

The ZJU-UIUC Institute offers exciting learning experiences in and outside classrooms and laboratories. Courses offered at the Institute foster teamwork, communication skills, professionalism, innovation, and creativity.
Classroom learning is led by professors from UIUC and ZJU.  Interactive classroom environments and activities are complemented and enhanced by participation in student organizations and extracurricular activities, study-abroad programs, industry and overseas internships, and leadership opportunities.

Location Transportation

Haining is easy to navigate by bus and taxi, with excellent shopping and restaurants. Regional attractions include the Nanguanxiang old-town neighborhood, the Leather Market, and the Qiantang River tidal bore.
Proximity to high-speed rail and modern highways supports day trips to Shanghai and Hangzhou, and facilitates trips to Hong Kong, Xi’an, Beijing, and other major cities in China. The campus is less than two hours by car from three international airports, including Shanghai-Pudong.

Living Environment

The International Campus operates with a Residential College model, in which students work and live together in a broad living and learning environment.  Each student has a private air-conditioned dormitory room with access to ample common living space. The International Campus is built in a British architectural style, with a state-of-the-art library, full fitness facilities, study rooms, game rooms, and discussion and interactive spaces.  Comprehensive indoor and outdoor recreational facilities are open to all students.
A well-trained support team is available 24 hours a day to render service to students.

A Hotbed For Entrepreneurship

Zhejiang Province is the country’s richest province with an annual real growth of 8% and the highest disposable income of any province in China.
More than 150 entrepreneurship incubators througout Shanghai and 51 incubators around Hangzhou support new startups with business training, legal consultation, registration services and tax reductions.
A total of 4.854 million new companies were registered in China from March 2014 to May 2015; seven every minute.

Mail-in forms are also available at these sites. Undergraduate students should plan to apply by April 30th, 2021 for full consideration.
Submit required materials:
All applicants must submit high school transcripts, scores on recognized tests such as ACT or SAT or IB from the examining authority, an admission essay, and other material indicated on the admissions website. Applications are reviewed based on all factors in the application record, and will not be considered until they have all materials submitted.
Demonstrate your language proficiency:
Students whose native language is not English should submit official results of TOEFL or IELTS tests.  The admissions counselors are seeking students who will be successful in our English-based instructional program.
Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet, and submit scores for, at least one of the following minimum requirements to be considered for admission.
SAT
For  new SAT exam, a score in the range 1280-1300 (620 minimum in Mathematics, and  650 minimum in Reading & Writing).
ACT
ACT  Composite score of 27 minimum.
IB
An  overall score of 32 points, including 6 in Mathematics and Physics at higher  level.
GCE
A-level
ABB,  in one sitting, to include Mathematics and Physics. GCSEs: Mathematics at Grade  B and English at Grade C.
The programs are highly competitive and successful applicants are likely to exceed the minimum requirements substantially.
Tuition & Fees

For non-Chinese passport holders, the tuition cost is 200,000RMB/year.
Accommodation (single room) on the International Campus is 8,000 RMB/year.
Scholarships

The most highly qualified applicants will be considered for full scholarships, living allowance, accommodation and medical insurance.
Duration: Four Years
The scholarship will be reviewed and given on the condition that the student meets the requirements for satisfactory progress toward a degree and follows the rules of the ZJU-UIUC Institute.
