When does school start?
School officially starts in September 2017.

What’s the education system like at the Joint Institute?
Teaching will involve a blended mix of lectures, tutorials, group discussions and practical work. Central to increasing knowledge and the development of understanding and analytical abilities is the development of graduate attributes and autonomous learning skills including information gathering, academic writing and reflective practice. The different learning and teaching formats aim to support student development in all these areas through the key provision of staged formative feedback and assessment practice.

Are the programmes going to be taught in English?
Yes, the entire programme will be taught in English.

Does my English have to be really good in order to join the institute?
We require you to be comfortable with using English as the daily communication language here at the International Campus. Don’t worry if you are not 100% proficient at the start of the programme, we will help you improve through summer camps and optional courses. See ‘What are the Entry Requirements?’ for more information on English Language requirements.

Do I have to know Chinese in order to join the institute?
No, although we do have some lessons on Chinese culture and language.

Who is going to conduct the undergraduate programmes?
Jointly conducted by lecturers and professors from ZJU, Edinburgh and the Joint Institute.

How much does it cost for the accommodation?
It will be around 8k RMB per year.

Is it compulsory to stay on Campus?
You are highly encouraged to stay on Campus, however the decision has not been made on whether it is compulsory.

Do I get to go to Edinburgh as an undergraduate student?
While it is not compulsory for you to go to Edinburgh, we do provide plenty of exchange opportunities to Edinburgh and other overseas universities.

How do I get to Haining?
There will be school shuttle bus between Hangzhou and the Haining Campus.

Which other institutes are going to be at the International Campus?
Currently UIUC start school in Sep; other universities like Imperial College London and North American universities are in the plans.
