To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the national flag-raising ceremony had taken place in International Campus, Zhejiang University.

At 7 a.m., the ceremony began in a solemn atmosphere. Along with the majestic national anthem, the National flag of China, Five-starred Red Flag, raised into the sky. The color of the flag got more vivid in the cool autumn wind. With full enthusiasm, all the teachers and students sang the national anthem with full of affectionate voices, showing respect to the 70th birthday of the People’s Republic of China.


 

 



On behalf of all attendance, Qiang Fu, Assistant to the Headmaster, Secretary of the Party and Labor Committee of International Campus, expressed the sincere blessing to our nation. He said that, looking back the history of our nation and Zhejiang University, we could find that the core of patriotism lives inside the spirit of Zhejiang University. “We shall advocate, and follow, the Communist Party of China and our President Xi”, He pointed out. Qiang also hoped all our students could connect the future of individual to the future of the country. He sincerely wished all the students could grow up as one who would make contributions to our nation.

Then, Wanlu Liu, on behalf of all teachers in the campus, gave a speech. As a post-90s generation who had once studied oversea, she said that, reviewing her experiences, she valued the stability and prosperity of her motherland most. She suggested that the students should learn the history of China, take the responsibility, and be a “dream catcher” in the new era.

Student representative, Zhizhan Tang, gave a speech as well. He suggested that, as students in a top level university in China, we should take advantage of the high-level education in the campus, to contribute to our great nation.

At the end of the ceremony, all the students sang the song of "Ode to the Motherland". They gave their own blessings to the motherland with a deep and affectionate song. Over 200 people participated in this ceremony, including staff and students from various institutes.
