On the afternoon of September 15th, ZJUI organized a faculty-student interaction session between the directors of various departments of UIUC and the 2018 freshmen in the multi-purpose hall of the international campus. Prof. K.C. Ting, Associate Dean of ZJU International Campus, Prof. Li Erping, Dean of ZJUI and Directors of UIUC, Prof. Erhan Kudeki, Prof. James LaFave and Professor Elizabeth Hsiao-Wecksler all came to interact with the freshmen. During their interaction with the faculties, the freshmen eagerly listened and exchanged their thoughts. This interacting session was hosted by Prof. Philip Krein, Executive Dean of ZJUI.
Prof. K.C. Ting has previously served as the head of the UIUC for a long time
before joining the International Campus. At this event, he took the
opportunity to give a comprehensive introduction of UIUC’s advantages
and characteristics such as its academic achievements, scientific
inventions, curriculum as well as talent cultivation.
Prof. Erhan Kudeki, on behalf of the UIUC Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and gave a talk for students in the fields of electronics and computer engineering, electrical engineering and automation. His emphasis is on the education models of these two undergraduate programs. Besides that, he also gave an in-depth description of several core courses.
On behalf of the UIUC Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Prof. James LaFave introduced this major to the CE students. Sharing his teaching experiences, he pointed out the fact UIUC ranks high among all US universities in civil engineering with lots of valuable resources that would potentially benefit the students at the International Campus.
Prof. Elizabeth Hsiao-Wecksler delivered a presentation to the mechanical engineering students on behalf of the UIUC Mechanical Engineering Department. She not only gave a general introduction of the ME major at UIUC but also talked about the current development and future direction of this major.
During the whole event, the communications between UIUC faculties and ZJUI students were efficient with questions answered and experiences shared. The interaction session achieved a complete success.
