Dear All,
As you may already heard, a ransomware variant known as WanaCry is being spread on a massive scale around the world.
Once a computer is infected it will attempt to infect other machines on the same network using a recently patched Windows vulnerability. After successful infiltration, this malware encrypts files on victims' computers and demands ransom payments of 2.2 Bitcoin to decrypt them.
Although Library&Information Center have blocked port 445 on campus network’s edge firewall, but below action are still recommended from user side:
Please patch your Windows machine up to date as soon as possible, Microsoft has already released patch MS17-010 to fix the vulnerability.
Please deny inbound traffic on port 445 on your local machine’s firewall setting until it is patched up to date
Please backup all your local data timely.
