Research interests: 
Dr. Kindratenko is a Senior Research Scientist at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) - home of Blue Waters supercomputer - one of the largest high-performance computing (HPC) resources available for open academic research. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) - one of the highest-ranking computer engineering programs in the US. His research interests include high-performance computing and special-purpose computing architectures. At NCSA, he leads the Innovative Systems Laboratory that works on the development and evaluation of next-generation HPC systems based on computational accelerators and on the design and implementation of scientific applications for such systems. At the ECE department, he teaches freshman and sophomore computer engineering courses. Dr. Kindratenko received the D.Sc. degree from the University of Antwerp (UA), Belgium, in 1997 and the Specialist degree from the Vynnychenko State Pedagogical University (KDPU), Kirovograd, Ukraine, in 1993. Prior to becoming a Research Scientist, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at NCSA.
