Notice on holding the teaching communication and competition of young teachers in the Zhejiang University/University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Institute (the ZJU-UIUC Institute), 2020

 Dear all,

According to the implementation measures for young teachers' teaching competition of Zhejiang University (ZDfB [2017] No. 123), the college decided to hold the teaching communication and competition of young teachers in the Zhejiang University/University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Institute (the ZJU-UIUC Institute). The relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:

1、 Competition purpose

We should carry out the training of young teachers' teaching ability, strengthen their basic teaching skills, stimulate their enthusiasm to update their educational ideas and master modern teaching methods, give full play to the leading and exemplary role of teaching competitions in improving the quality of teachers, and strive to create a group of people who love their posts and work, study rigorously, have ideals and beliefs, have moral sentiments, have solid knowledge and have a heart of benevolence High quality teachers promote the sustainable development of first-class undergraduate education.

2、 Competition principle

They are open, fair and fair; the procedures are rigorous and standardized; they pay attention to basic teaching skills and application abilities; young teachers are widely involved and selected.

3、 Participants

Teachers who meet the following two conditions at the same time:

a.    Under 40 years old (before January 1, 1980).

b.    Set up courses for one year or more as a lecturer.

4、 Competition arrangement

a. The competition time is tentatively determined in the middle of October, and the venue is in Haining campus. Specific matters will be notified separately.

b. The judges of the competition are composed of experts, peers and students.

c. The competition includes teaching design and classroom teaching, with weights of 15% and 85% respectively. Among them, classroom teaching takes the form of teaching demonstration, and the final teacher will show the selected teaching content on site within 15 minutes.

d. The institute will evaluate the first, second and third prizes according to the performance of the participating teachers in the competition, and recommend them to participate in the final of Zhejiang University Young Teachers competition.
