Recently, the 2017 IEEE International Electron Devices Meeting was held in San Francisco, California, USA from 2017/12/2 to 2017/12/6. Our faculty member Yang Xu represented the research progress in silicon photodetectors, which was done by a collaborative team among ZJU-UIUC Institute, Tsinghua University, and CAS Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics.

近日，ZJUI联合学院执行院长 Philip T Krein教授荣膺美国发明家学会(NAI)院士。2017年共有155名学术发明家入选，使美国发明家学会院士人数增长到912人。

On December 17, 2017, the department of Civil Engineering of Zhejiang University/University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Institute(ZJUI) visited Shanghai Tower under the guidance of Prof. Liang Y. Liu, and Executive Dean Prof. Philip Krein. When the students looked up at the 632-meter-high skyscraper, they were overwhelmed and also very curious about how such a high building was built.

Research Professor Philip T Krein, Executive Dean of ZJUI, has been named a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI).

The three-day IEEE Electrical Design of Advanced Packaging & Systems Symposium was held in Lecture Theatre West, International Campus beginning December 14th. Nearly 200 experts and scholars from domestic and overseas joined the symposium, such as Prof. Andreas Cangellaris, the Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Vice Chancellor-elect for academic affairs and Provost-elect and many others.

December 16th, ZJUI students Sihao Yang, Huangchang Ji, Yiqin Xie formed a team, named "Innovate.init", and participated in 2017 Software Robots Innovation Design Competition along with three other teams from Zhejiang University.

我院助理教授胡欢最近与美国IBM沃森研究中心展开国际合作，成功研发了一项仿生学杀菌表面的技术。该项技术受到蜻蜓翅膀杀菌机理的启发，利用了大小在100纳米范围的针尖阵列，可以杀死粘附在表面的细菌，抑制细菌的繁殖。

Prof. Huan Hu recently developed a technology for preparing bio-inspired antibacterial surfaces in collaboration with IBM T. J. Watson Research Centers in the United States. This technology, inspired by the observation that the wings of insects, such as dragonflies and Cicadas, use small nanospikes with diameters around 100nm to kill bacteria and inhibit bacterial growth.

2017年12月17日，浙江大学伊利诺伊大学厄巴纳香槟校区联合学院（以下简称ZJUI）土木工程专业学子在课程导师Liang Y. Liu教授、ZJUI执行院长Philip Krein带领下，赴沪参观了上海中心大厦。当同学们仰望这座632米高的摩天大楼时，都发出了阵阵的赞叹，也十分好奇这样一座高楼是如何建造的。
