International campus provides various kinds of network accessing services, including Wi-Fi, eduroam and VPN.

Wireless network (ZJUWLAN)

Our campus provides a secure Wi-Fi service, which is available across all the campuses of Zhejiang University. The SSID is ZJUWLAN. After you connect to ZJUWLAN, there will be an automatically logon window when you open a webpage, input your NetID and password, and all done!

eduroam

eduroam is available in the campus, if you are a member of eduroam, you can use your own eduroam account to connect the campus Wi-Fi. Click here to see more details about eduroam.

Wired network

The campus provides safe convenient wired network service. Please set your IP address and DNS server as Automatic acquisition when you connect by wired network. Open a webpage, there will be an automatically log on window, input your NetID and password and done!

To use the service please follow the instructions for configuring your device.

VPN Service (Secure access to systems from off campus)

If you want to access to campus systems, such as library resources, from off campus, you can use the VPN service.

Prerequisites

  1. An Internet connection via a network, broadband or modem connection (connect to this first).
  2. Please follow the guidance to set up your computer at point of first use and shut down your antivirus software as well as Firewall.
  3. You must not close the login page and open up a new page to access to the University network.
  4. Please be aware that your access might be prohibited permanently if you transfer your VPN account to others, or over loading library E-resources.

IPv6 on INTL campus

The campus network (including cable network and wireless network "ZJUWLAN") have already enabled IPv4 and IPv6 dual stack, we have enabled IPv6 to access China's next generation Internet project CERNET2 (The China Education and Research Network 2) through the Zhejiang University campus network.

What is IPv6?

IPv6 is the next generation of the Internet Protocol (IP) address standard that will supplement and eventually replace IPv4. At present, the Internet uses the IPv4 protocol, its address is 32-bit code, can provide IP address of about 40 million, and it has been basically allocated.

IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) is developed by the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force), the address is 128 bit, can provide a total of nearly 340 trillion IP addresses. Examples of IPv6 addresses are as follows: 2001:0:9d38:6ab8:1414:ce05:4862:5dbd

What is CERNET2?

CERNET2 (The China Education and Research Network 2) is China's next generation of Internet Projects. CNGI is the largest core network and the only national academic network, it is the world's largest pure IPv6 network support the next generation of Internet backbone until now.

The International Campus, Zhejiang University is committed to rolling out IPv6 connectivity for campus researchers and students. ITS has been working to:

  • Enable our Core Network for IPv6 connectivity.
  • Manage the existing IPv6 addresses assigned to the university.
  • Develop a plan for rolling these out over time.
  • Assist units with setting up IPv6 connections, as not all devices provide the tools to connect seamlessly.

For the detail steps to setup IPv6 on your computer, check this document.
